The weather today requires something a little more technical than usual. Enter the fibonacci sonnet, a fantastic exercise in poetry, symmetry, and the best parts of math. Max is still working on his, but I know it's "about tape". In the meantime, here's mine.
PARANOID RAIN DANCE
by Alina Stefanescu Coryell
For Ann Coulter, who is always on the lookout for boogey-men
Raindrops
tiptoe
before running.
The pelting passacaglia.
An ear for dynamics might
sense when the waltz ends and ballet begins.
We watch, marvelled, as ballerinas, en pointe atop puddles, coalesce, parts becoming whole.
How a tiny dance transforms silt into the thick contagion called "mud" surely involves a well-trained cadre somewhere in eternal conspiracy.
Who can keep quiet when constant trickle is cover for hammer and sickle?
A true patriot sometimes speaks out against rain.
The homeland hero sees socialism
in thunderstorms and
sodden
trees.
